The Akathist is a collection of Akathists.
In Romania, the first Akathist in a synodal edition was published in 1971.
The synodal editions of the Akathist can be considered "cult books" in churches and parishes, and are used as such by priests and ministers.
The Church recommends caution on the part of priests and believers for Akathist editions that do not have the endorsement of the Church, for the fact that they may contain Akathists of uncertain origins and promote dogmatic errors or Orthodox spirituality.
